Emulsifiers 101
There are several reasons I don't throw away my TLT magazines. First: it doesn't matter if my son finds it under the couch. Second: it's always good to review articles on metalworking fluid I might have read long ago. Third: maybe I was really busy that month and I missed a good article. That was certainly the case with the September Edition. Besides the uber crash course on amines provided by Mr. Brutto, there is an excellent presentation on emulsifiers, which I found decidedly more at my level of understanding, being the simple mechanical engineer that I am. I am not going to summarize this article, because this is one you should read yourself. You will be very pleased with the organization and great graphics that are provided in a text book style presentation. An easy read that won't leave you feeling stupid. This is the basics, and that means it is shop floor level knowledge that the average metalworking fluid manager should understand. Read it. Unfortunately, the links to the TLT article appear to be screwed-up to make them inconvenient to link to, so you'll have to dig around on your own at the stle.org site for this.
