MWFMAG continues to explore the organization of metalworking fluid products from various companies in JULY.  Cimcool  is a well-known name in metalworking fluid industry. They have a long list of products grouped into product families based at the highest level on general formulation type.  Within each formulation type there are numerous choices available with specific material and operation recommendations provided in the product data sheet.  So if you are not stuck on a formulation type, you might read across the families to find multiple products suited for the material and operation you are dealing with.  Fortunately for the End User, they are not vague about it, and provide statements like "recommended for" right on the product sheet.  Fortunately, Cimcool provides a single page clickable reference to their products.  You are never more than three clicks away from everything you need to know, and Cimcool puts the information out there better than most other suppliers.  They only lack that simple chart that we can read on a single page before we start clicking.

CIMTECH® - Synthetics : Synthetic products for machining and grinding applications without using mineral oil. Being synthetic formulation you can expect low foaming tendency.

CIMSTAR®, QUANTALUBE® - Semi-Synthetics : This is a broad range of machining and grinding fluids, recommended for general purpose and medium to heavy-duty operations.  They claim it best suitable for ferrous and many non-ferrous metals., CIMSTAR® fluids commonly contain a low to moderate amount of mineral oil and are semi-transparent when mixed with water.

CIMPERIAL® - Soluble Oils : Designed for heavy-duty machining and grinding on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Being  mineral oil based formulation you can expect advantages like corrosion protection and  high lubricity.

CIMVANTAGE® - Economical Fluids : Economical product line for light duty application. Suitable for  ferrous and most non-ferrous materials, including some yellow metals. It can be used on mild steels, stainless steels, hardened steels, and exotic materials. It should not be used on magnesium alloys

CIMFREE® - Botanicals :  A vegetable-based metalworking fluid. Can be used for a wide variety of heavy duty machining and grinding applications such as milling, drilling, turning, tapping, reaming and ID and OD grinding. Can be used on a wide variety of materials such as carbon steels, high speed steels, cast steels, stainless steels, aluminum, copper and brass.

CIMCOOL® HFP Fluids - with Fact :  Contains a chlorinated extreme pressure lubrication package to perform on a variety of machining and grinding applications. It is recommended for High Fluid Pressure and High Volume Flow Applications where minimization of foam is critical for part quality and machine operations. It can be used for machining and grinding operations of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, where a heavy-duty fluid is desired.

CIMCOOL® "Z" Fluids : Cimcool claims this line as an improved formulation superseding all of the above families, and applicable for a wide variety of heavy-duty machining and grinding operations including turning, drilling, tapping and reaming.
