Metalworking Fluids and Skin Care Safety

End User's have come to expect the newer and more expensive metalworking fluid formulations to last longer. Extended life usually means the addition of biocides or the presence of bacteria.  Either can lead to a machine operator complaining about skin irritation because of metalworking fluid.  Ideally there should be no contact with working metalworking fluids, which is practically impossible. So what are the basic ways of skin care?

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries has given guidelines since long ago. These are simple common sense, but it’s worth refreshing once again as the most uncommon thing now a days is common sense.  For real fun, watch this Vintage Video.
