Gravity bed filters provide a simple, reliable, and economic method of metalworking fluid filtration.  They use non-woven bulk paper roll filter media. The filter features a continuous mesh conveyor chain to support the filter paper and create a pool of liquid. As contaminants build on the paper and flow becomes restricted, the liquid level rises closing a float switch which causes the conveyor to advance fresh paper into service.

This handsome looking metalworking fluid filtration system claims to remove contaminants as low as 1-micron. Clean down to that level will not only increase fluid life, it will increase machine  and tool life.  The operation of the portable Harvard filter system is patented technology.  The filtration makes the difference. The HarvardTM filter is a design with a multiple element filter.

Water is the natural breeding ground for bacteria and our metalworking fluids are 95% water. Whatever claim manufacturers make, there is no formulation on this earth which can avoid bacteria formation.  There are many ways to control bacteria.  The most common method  used over the years is to add biocides.

WOW!  I hope the parking brake is on. TANK MONTH is officially over, but check this out. They just keep getting bigger. I would put a revolving turret on this one with a quick-disconnect for the discharge hose, and call it the "TANK." CECOR has introduced the "Extra Power Combination Coolant Sump-cleaner/Dispenser" ("TANK" would be better) Model CP50-200/200CB5.

Gone that era when we only had small sumps and we used to dump the ugly bad smelling metalworking fluid every now and then in the field out back, or along the nearby dirt road.  This was common practice as recently as the 1960's, even in California.  With rising production costs, increases environmental awareness and regulation, technological advances in Metalworking fluid formulations followed.  Today we have fluids which can last more than a year if expertly maintained.  With the best centralized tank designs, some fluid

It's the next to last day at the STLE in Detroit and things are getting out of control.  See what you missed?  Actually, we didn't hear from our STLE eyes on the ground in Detroit, and since we promised you a report every day, we're making this one up.  Dentists party like this at their meetings.  Not engineers.  They have Nitrous Oxide.  We have cool laptops.  See picture from Tuesday.
