Man Severs Fingers at Metalworking Fluid Manufacturing Company

An employee of a reputed Metalworking Fluid, cleaner and lubricant manufacturer in Crystal Lake severely injured his hand while operating a machine Monday morning, according to the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.  Crews were called to 8200 Ridgefield Road around 7:40 a.m. for a report of a man who had severed off several fingers, fire officials said.

In metalworking formulations, Boron and Boric Acid are generally used as an iron corrosion inhibitor and pH buffering agents. With the increasing awareness many customers are now demanding Boron free metalworking fluids.  In Europe, boric acid and boron are considered as reproductive toxins, but only fluids containing >5.5% free boric acid must carry this “Danger” Label according to regulations.
