Erie, PA —From its maiden voyage in 2011 to the close of its 2013 travel season, the Eriez® Orange University® Mobile Training and Education Center logged more than 100,000 miles on the road, visiting over 1,000 customers’ facilities all over North America to deliver hands-on learning and training opportunities. The training vehicle is currently in the midst of its 2014 tour. “We anticipate having another 300-plus customer visits in the books by the end of October,” says Jayne Corey, Orange University Team Leader.

The Orange University Mobile Training and Education Center is a 38-foot Winnebago® designed for equipment demonstrations and customer workshops. The set-up is presently tailored to light industry applications and includes an array of state-of-the-art magnetic separators, vibratory conveyors and screeners and metal detectors as well as a high-tech multimedia system with mobile broadband and multiple monitors, including a 42-inch touch screen SMART Board.

According to Eriez, customers have embraced this mobile training concept and the demand for visits continues to grow each year.  “The nice thing about the Mobile Training and Education Center is that it brought a wide variety of equipment right to our front door, giving us a convenient opportunity to see it, touch it and feel it,” says Carl Hartmangruber, Plant Manager of Cache Creek Foods. “It’s so much better than looking through a computer or line card.”

Eriez stresses that the emphasis of the Orange University Mobile Training and Education Center is to provide customer education. “Our goal with the Mobile Training and Education Center is to give customers free access to on-site training and equipment demonstrations to help them find solutions to their day-to-day material handling and contamination challenges,” says Corey. Hartmangruber explains, “When the vehicle came to our plant, it was not structured as a sales visit and there was no pressure to buy. Instead, it was a chance for us to see some things we have not seen before, ask questions and engage in a good dialogue with Eriez personnel.”
